Invitation for schools to participate in Refugee Week 2012 art exhibition
Refugee Week is Australia's peak annual activity to celebrate the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society. Refugee Week runs from 17–23 June 2012 and incorporates the United Nations World Refugee Day on 20 June.
The Department for Communities has organised an art exhibition as part of Refugee Week since 2007. The project involves schools and organisations that work with students from refugee and migrant backgrounds to develop art that depicts the refugee experience and the settlement in a new country. This year the theme is Restoring Hope. The artworks will be exhibited in a central location in Perth.
Your school can get involved by holding its own art exhibition before Refugee Week or by selecting artworks to be included in the main exhibition.
Please see attached Invitation for schools for more information
