The Office of Multicultural Interests has now been serving the Western Australian community for more than a quarter of century – in that time, our State has become the most culturally diverse society in Australia.

Our cultural, linguistic and religious diversity is making WA a more interesting and dynamic place in which to live and work. It brings new opportunities for engaging with our world and challenges us to ensure everyone who lives here has the opportunity to find their place in Western Australian society.

To reflect its priorities for Participation, Equity and Promotion, the Government has approved a 5-year Strategic Plan for OMI. The new Strategic Plan (2009-2013) requires a renewed commitment to collaboration with the State’s many communities – and all of us here at OMI are looking forward to building these partnerships for Western Australia’s next 25 years.
