Integrated Services Centres

Integrated Services Centres aim to address a range of issues affecting service delivery for Humanitarian entrants in Western Australia. They involve a partnership between the State Government agencies, the Office of Multicultural Interests (Department of Local Government), the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Health.

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship, the Department for Child Protection and Centrelink are also key stakeholders.

OMI provides funding for the ISC staffing positions, which include health nurses employed by Department of Health, counsellors employed by the Infant, Child, Adolescent and Youth Mental Health Services (ICAYMHS) and multicultural community liaison workers employed by Edmund Rice Centre, Mirrabooka.

What is an Integrated Services Centre?
The Integrated Services Centre (ISC) provides culturally appropriate and holistic services to support individuals and families in their health, psychological, social and community needs. An Integrated Services Centre is located at Parkwood Primary School and another at Koondoola Primary School.

Who is eligible to access this service?
The services are primarily for the students of the Intensive English Centres (IEC) at both schools, and their siblings and families who are currently not registered with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s (DIAC) Integrated Humanitarian Settlement Strategy (IHSS) program. The ISCs provide additional services to complement the support currently being provided by the IECs, in addition to settlement services provided to eligible clients under DIAC’s Settlement Grants Programme.   This contributes to improving the educational outcomes of the students and the overall settlement of families.
