Welcome to the Office of Multicultural Interests’ (OMI) website, a user-friendly resource that offers you a comprehensive range of information related to the Citizenship and Multicultural Interests portfolio and cultural diversity in Western Australia.
The people of Western Australia are from over 200 countries, speak nearly 300 languages and have over 100 faiths. We can all benefit from gaining knowledge and understanding of our State’s cultural diversity.
In addition to corporate information about OMI’s role and function, you can also access the OMI Strategic Plan 2009–2013 and view information on key policies and programs.
- A Community Engagement page to view information about the OMI Community Engagement Strategy, upcoming community consultations and previous consultation reports. This area contains contact links to Western Australia’s ethnic organisations and groups and an area for you to make suggestions and provide feedback to OMI.
- A Resources and Publications page that will enable you to access OMI information on multiculturalism including; ABS statistics, definitions of terms used in the sector, migration, the social and economic benefits of cultural diversity, culture and religion guidelines for service providers, reports, submissions, schools resources, and a media centre.
- A comprehensive list of clearing-houses and websites with information on key OMI Strategic Plan themes and subjects, including employment and training, education, health, housing and settlement. This resource will also serve as a valuable research area to support the needs of the public and private sectors, culturally and linguistically diverse communities and the general public.
- A News and Events page that will enable community members to list events and programs so that all Western Australians can participate and support cultural diversity.
