WA public sector agencies continue to progress on their work towards creating inclusive and welcoming communities that support equitable participation by people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds, according to a recent update report.

Tabled in WA Parliament on Wednesday 25 June 2025, the Western Australian Multicultural Policy Framework Implementation Report May 2025 outlined key findings from participating WA public sector agencies during the 2023–24 Financial Year.

Supported by the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport’s Office of Multicultural Interests, the Western Australian Multicultural Policy Framework (WAMPF) guides WA public sector agencies in designing policies, programs and services that are responsive to the cultural and linguistic diversity of our state.

The 2023-24 WAMPF implementation report revealed that during this period, 64 WA public sector agencies committed to 1,784 actions to embed the objectives of the WAMPF in their agency’s operations.

The report included a number of highlights:

  • There was a 70% increase in completed actions compared to the first year of implementation in 2021-22.
  • There were 26,060 registered users of the Diverse WA cultural competency training program - a 40% increase compared to the previous year.
  • Agencies strengthened engagement with CaLD communities to shape inclusive, culturally responsive policies, programs and services.
  • How the WAMPF is helping drive systemic change across the WA public sector through the domains of policy reform, data collection and evaluation, inclusive leadership and advocacy, public awareness and engagement and cultural shift.
