Community Capital Works news title

Applications for the Community Capital Works Fund are now open.

These one-off grants of up to $250,000 can be used to support individual projects that involve capital works for maintenance, refurbishment, upgrades, or extensions of existing facilities.

Administered by the Office of Multicultural Interests within the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, this funding program provides support for culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) community groups to upgrade, maintain and diversify community infrastructure.

Funding will support CaLD community associations to better meet the needs of their members by helping ensure that facilities are culturally appropriate, accessible and can accommodate the growth in services that are being offered.

The funding will also provide a boost to local businesses and tradespeople with applicants being directed to ‘go local’ in their projects.

Applications close at 4.00 pm on Monday 23 October 2023.

“The facilities of culturally and linguistically diverse associations are not just buildings – they are community hubs where people come together, culture thrives, and essential services are delivered," said Citizenship and Multicultural Interests Minister, Dr Tony Buti.

“Often run and staffed by volunteers, many of these facilities are struggling to cope with the growing and diversifying requirements necessary to meet the needs of communities.

“This funding will ensure CaLD community associations continue to foster social connections, meet cultural requirements and enhance services to the community.

“The funding will also be a boost for local businesses and tradies by providing a steady stream of building activities over the next year.”
