Page introduction (keep short).

On Tuesday 10 June, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries’ Office of Multicultural Interests (OMI) marked the 10-year anniversary of its Leadership and Governance program with a networking event, bringing together WA's public sector senior executives and board members with the program’s current participants, alumni and mentors.

Established in 2015, the program has played an important role in fostering equitable representation for people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds on boards and committees across public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

Since its inception, a total of 160 professionals have participated in the program, with an additional 19 to complete the program in 2025.

The event highlighted the importance of having people from CaLD backgrounds on boards and committees, as well as the impact of the program and where to identify culturally diverse talent. It also provided an opportunity for attendees to network with fellow alumni, mentors, public sector senior executives and board members.

Congratulations to everyone who has contributed to the success of this program over the past decade!
